Ammonium Chloride is an odorless, white powder. Solid Ammonium Chloride is used to make dry batteries and Ammonia compounds, as a soldering flux, a pickling agent in Zinc coating and tinning, and a fertilizer. Ammonium Chloride fume, a finely divided particle dispersed in air, is produced in galvanizing operations. Its principal uses are as a nitrogen supply in fertilizers and as an electrolyte in dry cells, and it is also extensively employed as a constituent of galvanizing, tinning, and soldering fluxes to remove oxide coatings from metals and thereby improve the adhesion of the solders.
